Planning for the semester break

I have not travelled for close to 2 years. I yearned for the opportunity to travel out of my country again. Nowadays, one of the popular coffee conversations revolves around, 'If you can travel again, which is the first country you want to visit?'. I really want to go Australia to hike the Cape to Cape Track in Margaret River, Perth. We booked and paid for a trip just before the pandemic hits, and this trip has been forever on hold since. We have intended to have our wedding photoshoot taken in Perth too. We are now happily married, without any wedding photoshoot, and I guess that is fine. Many couples have to face several wedding restrictions during this season, and it helped us to re-prioritise the most essentials, and I guess that can be a good thing too. Wedding affairs used to be a huge fanfare involving tens of thousands of dollars.

Anyway, travel is still a no-go, so I need to reevaluate the things I want to do during the short semester break. Actually, I am excited to catch up with the skills I need to build a professional portfolio. I want to use the time to learn Articulate Storyline, and to build a course using the software. I can also use the time to gather some of the artefacts that I have completed throughout the semesters, and see what are some of the artefacts I can use to showcase in the portfolio. I wasn't impressed with much of the work I have created though, and thought it would be better to re-create them from scratch. There is also the opportunity to learn some skills not directly related to instructional design. For example, I have always been interested in hand-lettering, and I enjoy hand-lettering on blank notebook covers and turning them into unique art pieces. Perhaps I can spend some time doing that too.
